Every October, starting from 2019, the US Stanford University publishes a ranking list of the world's most influential scientists.
The list of 2022 includes 14 Azerbaijani scientists working in the country and abroad in 6 fields of science, who are also representatives of 8 organizations. Rasoul Moradi, coordinator of Khazar University's Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, was also included in the ranking list in the field of engineering.
It should be noted that the ranking list is compiled based on the previous year’s data of the” Scopus” database of “Elsevier”, the world's largest and most prestigious academic publishing house, headquartered in Amsterdam. The list is compiled according to the following criteria and is carried out in two stages: The initial selection is made on the basis of the productivity indicator. Thus, in the 1st stage, scientists whose at least 5 articles are indexed in the "Scopus" database are selected. The selection at the next stage is based on quality indicators. By quality indicators, the total number of references, the number of references excluding self-references, h-index (Hirsch index), hm-index (h-index for multi-authored articles), number of references to single-authored articles, number of references to first-authored articles, etc. are intended. Then, based on these indicators, a generalized (composite) indicator is calculated and scientists are ranked based on this indicator. After ranking, a ranking list of scientists who are in the first 2% is drawn up. The ranking is done separately for each of the 22 scientific fields.
