On November 22 and 23, 2019, a workshop entitled “Building Higher Education Capacity through Effective & Sustainable Partnerships” was held at Khazar University’s Conference and Leisure Center in Buzovna.
The workshop was organized jointly by the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan and Khazar University within the International Education Week 2019.
Dr. David Wick, Assistant Professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, a professional with over 20 years of experience in the international education field, was invited to deliver the workshop. The workshop used case studies, panels, and group sessions to evaluate capacity for developing and sustaining partnerships for educational exchange and student mobility for institutions and organizations from Azerbaijan. During the workshop, participants examined their institutional capacity, determined their partnership needs, identified potential partners, developed an outreach, management, and evaluation strategy, and engaged in other interactive sessions and activities.
Workshop brought together over 30 professionals from more than 20 local HEIs, including 3 regional universities from Mingechevir and Ganja. Representatives from the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan as well as two English Language Fellows participated in the workshop.
Participants who successfully completed the workshop were awarded with certificates. Certificates were presented by the trainer Dr. David Wick and Ms. Michele Peterson, Public Affairs Officer from the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan.
