On October 28, 2019, Khazar University staff members Ulkar Bayramova and Malak Karimova participated in the Conference on “Inclusive Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Accessibility” dedicated to the Rights of persons with disabilities, organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Union of Disabled Persons Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was attended by Arja Makkonen, the Ambassador of Finland to Azerbaijan, representatives of various ministries and disabled persons organizations of Azerbaijan, UNICEF, UN, Finland’s Abilis Foundation, media, NGOs and Azerbaijani universities. During the Conference, there was extensive discussion about the common problems of disabled people, access to education and workplaces, vocational rehabilitation services and inclusive education, highlighting the functioning of the Disability Center at Khazar University and several other universities as a positive event. At the end of the Conference, it was noted that it is more expedient to hold joint events and disability projects and establish new cooperation between the two countries.
