On September 19-21, 2018, on an organizational support of Erciyez University, Khazar University, National Museum of History and Turkish Historical Society, “I International Traditional Turkic Peoples' Gravestone Symposium ” was held. The official opening ceremony was held on September 19 in Azerbaijan National Museum of History.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, Academician Naila Valikhanli, Director of National Museum of History, Prof. Jalil Arslan, Erciyez University, delivered speeches.
On the second half of the day and on September 20, the Symposium continued at Khazar University. About 30 reports covering the topic by Azeri and Turkish experts were delivered. Moreover, the experts answered questions and had discussions.
A closing ceremony was held at the end of the day. At the ceremony, Yashar Chorunlu, Halit Chal, Abbas Seyidov, Assoc.Prof. Jalil Arslan, and a PhD candidate Tulin Chorunlu delivered speeches and emphasized the importance of the symposium in terms of studying common Turkish history. They also highly appreciated the quality of the reports and expressed gratitude to Khazar University administration and organizers for the symposium. The participants were presented with certificates.
Alovsat Amirbayli, a member of Organization Committee of the symposium and Director of Public Relations and Media, thanked the participants on behalf of Khazar University for joining the symposium. Jalil Arslan presented Alovsat Amirbayli with a plaque of gratitude and a gift for his active participation in the organization of the symposium
At the end, Prof.Abbas Seyidov performed ashig songs as well as the song “Waving Black Sea”. The symposium ended with “Waving Black Sea”, a joint heritage of a great poet Ahmad Javad and prominent composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, which is a favourite song of both Azeri and Turkish peoples.
On September 21, symposium participants visited the Alley of Martyrs, Gobustan State Historical and Literary Reserve and “Temple of Ateshgah” State Historical and Architectural Reserve, Icherisheher and Palace of the Shirvanshahs.
