On May 8, 2018, one lesson of the subject “European Culture and Art” was conducted in Gobustan State Historical and Artistic Reserve, one of the unique historical and cultural monuments of Azerbaijan and of the world. The first year students of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences were led by Assoc.Prof. Jabir Khalilov, Dean, Valida Karimova, Vice-dean, Elmar Mustafayev, Coordinator of Political Sciences and International Relations, and Gulshan Kangarli, Instructor of the Department.
The aim of the open lesson was to enlighten students about the material and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and broaden their world view and theoretical knowledge. Students saw ancient caves, rock paintings, fireplaces and habitation of the primitive man, and the uniqueness of the landscape in Boyukdash mountain. Then students went on an excursion in a newly founded interactive museum led by a guide and got familiar with petroglyphs of Azerbaijan and of the world, the ancient climate and landscape of the region, the fauna and flora, and the activities and lifestyle of the primitive man.
This lesson was of great importance in terms of studying the history of the archaeological development of Azerbaijan and its material and cultural heritage.
