An article “The role of foreign languages as a means of communication in modern time” by Valida Karimova (PhD candidate), Vice-dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, was published in the fifth number of “Scientific works” journal (ISSN 2224-5529) of Nakhchivan State University, a journal recommended by Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The article deals with importance of foreign languages in terms of communication. Moreover, the article gives information on languages, words as well as widely used modern means of communication. The author gives answers to several questions such as “What is communication?”, “What is speech for?”, “What are auxiliary means for communication?” etc.
