On July 20, AZERTAC - Azerbaijan State Information Agency, released the news entitled ‘Khazar University in the Higher Education World ‘’about a high place of Khazar University in the international rankings table. According to the news, the QS organisation (QS Top 50 Under 50), international organisation that evaluates higher education in the world, has released the annual university ranking. This ranking covers young universities that operate in less than 50 years across the globe. The primary objective of this ranking is to assess the potential and strengths of universities which despite their young age possess the potential to compete effectively with older well-established higher education institutions. The top 150 young universities from 53 countries have been included in the list.
Khazar University is the only Azerbaijani university that was placed among the 150 best young world universities. Khazar University was competing with such well-known universities as Middlesex University (UK), Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland), Universität Bielefeld (Germany), London Metropolitan University (UK), Nottingham Trent University (UK), and George Mason University (USA).
Khazar University told AZERTAC that Post-Soviet Union countries are represented by Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine with one university per country. Turkey has four universities (Bilkent University, Koc University, Sabancı University, Cukurova University) on the list.
The performance of the world young universities is evaluated across a range of the following indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, student-faculty ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.
