On February 4 and 5, 2020, upon the initiative of the Department of Life Sciences at Khazar University, Professor Seyyed Abolghasem Mohamadi from the Department of Plant Breeding and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Agriculture of Tabriz University of Iran, held a scientific seminar. The first day of the seminar was dedicated to “Molecular breeding to enhance yield potential and stress tolerance in wheat through exploitation of genetic resources”. At the seminar, Professor Mohamadi gave detailed information on the implementation of molecular selection of wheat plants using the latest biotechnology techniques, as well as the speed breeding method worldwide.
The second day of the seminar was devoted to molecular analysis of medicinal plants.
The seminar was attended by the scientists, experts and students from various scientific centers of Azerbaijan – Khazar University, Azerbaijan Veterinary Research Institute, Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS, Baku State University, Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute. Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, the Rector of the University, and Dr. Hassan Niknafs, the Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, also took part in the seminar. At the end of the event, Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, discussed future perspectives with Professor Mohamadi and exchanged views on teaching courses in genomics and biometrics at Khazar University and plans for further joint projects.
Later on, invited guest was presented with certificates and gifts.
