On June 15, 2019, the closing ceremony of the “OIC Model - Conference of Foreign Affairs Ministers” international event and its awarding ceremony was held, being jointly organized by the Eurasian Regional Center of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Youth Forum, with its office in Baku, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Operating since April 2019, simulation Conference, which is the final stage of the “OIC Model - Academy of International Relations 2019”, was held with the participation of more than 100 young people, including students from 20 international universities. Representatives of 57 Islamic countries attended the Conference.
Nearly 20 undergraduate students from Khazar University’s Political Science and Philosophy Department, majoring in regional studies, political science and international relations, attended the event. Each of them participated as a representative of various Islamic countries, made presentations and presented their findings. A report made by John Ayomide Arogu, 2nd year student majoring in international relations at the above-mentioned Department, entitled “Near East Policy of the US and the risk of the US-Iran war” was chosen as the best report and awarded a special prize.
The Conference consisted of two parts. The first part was dedicated to discussions on the conflicts between Iran and the US, and the second part dealt with the conflicts between Azerbaijan and Armenia. At the end of each section, changes were made by the participating countries to the draft resolution issued by the Chairman, and the decisions were made by representatives of all countries giving their votes for or against those amendments.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Ambassadors representing OIC member countries in Azerbaijan, representatives of diplomatic missions, government agencies and higher education institutions, public figures, as well as young people, graduates of this year's program. At the end, each student was rewarded with certificates for participation and reporting.
