On May 24-25, 2019, the 2nd International Conference on “One Health: Problems and Solutions” was held at Khazar University.
The Conference is jointly organized by Khazar University, Azerbaijan Medical University, Institute of Biophysics of ANAS, The Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Experts from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Georgia and USA participated at the conference. Also, the representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Safety Agency and the Nizami district municipality attended the Conference. The Conference was supported by MEDEKS Medical Company.
Assoc. Prof. Irada Khalilova, Chair of the Conference and Rector of Khazar University delivered an opening speech and gave a report about One Health activities done at University over the past two years, including research, symposiums dedicated to World One Health Day each year, teaching One Health in the Life Sciences course, University students presentation on online Webinar organized by the International Student One Health Alliance (ISOHA) with more than 1000 participation from over 25 countries (https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1LsS-klDLvPVXP6eE77T3poj7osveqUDcAAShdi3w1t4/edit#slide=id.g50245e6716_1_4)
The next stage of the Conference consisted of listening to the reports. About 30 oral presentations were delivered during the two days sessions. After each panel session on the certain topics question and answer session was also held. From the first day of the Conference the posters of young researchers were exposed on stands and presentations were made during breaks. A poster presentation competition also took place and was judged by 5 International members of the Jury and the winners were announced. Robert Jecklin, Head of the Jury, Professor at the University of Wisconsin, USA, congratulated three best posters and announced that only one of them was the winner. The winner of the poster presentation was Arailym Nurmasheva, a graduate student in Public Health from Medical School of Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan.
At the concluding ceremony of the Conference, all panel members discussed their final important comments, and then Chair of the conference delivered a closing speech about the Conference. It was noted that the next Conference will be dedicated to the World One Health Day on November 3 and will be held on November 3-4, 2020.
Moreover, it was noted that the Conference was evaluated and accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Protocol No.: 24.05.2019 N-15, giving 16 points to each participant of the Conference.
