On 23, 2019 Medical University hosted 3rd International Student Forum under the support of Azerbaijan Youth Foundation. The official opening started with the speech of rector of Azerbaijan Medical University prof. Geray Gerayli. In his speech he emphasized the Forum’s importance on100-year anniversary of the host university. Forum participants were embassy representatives, university and government officials, international students.
The culture program started with the performance of Architecture and Construction University’s Turkish student’s retelling – ‘Azerbaijan Bayragi’ poem. Following that ‘Qarabag shikestesi’ folk song was performed on the stage. Azerbaijan Republic Youth Foundation’s executive director Mr. Farid Jafarov gave his speech on the benefits of similar events to withhold in Azerbaijan.
One of the crucial aims of the forum was to hear student voices on opportunities and challenges which are addressed to the officials of participating agencies. Students had their proposals in the stage addressed to the government officials. One of the students among them was Khazar University bachelor student of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences faculty John Arogun Ayomide. He spoke on work allowance international students to work and cultural integration and comprehension of internationals and locals. Another Khazar University student who performed on the stage was bachelor student of Science and Engineering faculty Bilal Abdulrasool Bachay. He recited poem in Arabic language on cultural diversity of Iraqi people and being stronger together as a whole.
The performance numbers demonstrated by international students from various universities of Azerbaijan were colorful, such as traditional dances, folk music songs, playing musical instruments poems etc. The ones which can be highlighted were national dance performances of students from Palestine, Turkey, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, famous Azerbaijani poet Samad Vurgun’s ‘Azerbaijan’ poem retold by the international students originated from Suria, Sri-Lanka, Ghana, Turkey, Iran, Nigeria and so on.
The most impressive thing about the forum was all the performers were international students.
