A new book titled "Азербайджанский поэтический венок Сергею Есенину" ("Azerbaijani Poetic Wreath to Sergei Yesenin") by Professor Isakhan Isakhanli, Azerbaijan's prominent Yesenin scholar, Doctor of Philological Sciences also well-known in Russia, laureate of the International Yesenin Prize, and Vice-Rector of Khazar University, has been published by Khazar University Press.
The book, which at first glance gives the impression of a completely original work both in terms of its content and composition, is a new substantial contribution to the subject by the scholar who has been engaged in research on the life and creative work of the great Russian poet for years, has obtained the academic degree of Doctor of Philological Sciences, and has published numerous valuable books on Yesenin studies.
I. Isakhanli, who is the compiler and editor of the 344-page book, is also the author of the foreword titled "Сергей Есенин в стихотворениях" ("Sergei Yesenin in Poems"). Russian translations of his 10 poems dedicated to Yesenin are also included in the book.
The book presents the first poem dedicated to Yesenin in Azerbaijani literature – Ali Nazim's poem "Sergei Yesenin" – in both Cyrillic and Arabic alphabets.
As a result of intensive research, the book presents a rich bibliography of poems dedicated to Yesenin. The bibliography includes information about 42 poems written by Azerbaijani authors in Azerbaijani, 69 poems written in Russian, 42 poems translated from Azerbaijani into Russian, and poems dedicated to Yesenin by two Russian authors in Russian and their translations into Azerbaijani.
The book includes photographs taken by Isakhan Isakhanli (individually and in groups) in front of the Yesenin corner in his personal library and at various times in places associated with the poet's name in Moscow, the city of Ryazan and the village of Konstantinovo in Ryazan Oblast, as well as in Mardakan.
The book's proofreader is Afag Shikhli, artist is Mehdi Samadi, and computer designer is Narmin Gasimova.
"Азербайджанский поэтический венок Сергею Есенину" ("Azerbaijani Poetic Wreath to Sergei Yesenin") is a valuable research work that enriches Azerbaijani and Russian Yesenin studies.
