On 22 November 2024, the Climate Vulnerability Task Force’s researchers and experts presented their joint paper, “Cooperation on Climate Vulnerabilities: Adding Regional Dimensions to National Climate Change Adaptation Planning in Eastern Partnership Countries”, during a high-level panel at COP29.
The paper was developed as a result of international cooperation and research on climate vulnerabilities, carried out through the EU-funded project “EU4Dialogue: Supporting Understanding Between Conflict Parties”.
Members of the Climate Vulnerability Task Force participated in the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Representing both Azerbaijan and Khazar University, Professor Rovshan Abbasov, Chair of the Climate Vulnerability Task Force and Head of the Environmental Research Centre at Khazar University, presented the group’s findings and emphasized the importance of regional dialogue and policy harmonization in climate adaptation planning.
“Our hope is that our paper will contribute to positive change and that the concept we have developed will help governments understand the necessity of cooperation”, said Professor Abbasov.
Through its active participation in EU4Dialogue and COP29, Khazar University continues to play an important role in international research collaboration, developing comparative approaches and sharing best practices for advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
