On October 6-8, 2025, the Third International Symposium on "Modernization Processes in the Turkic World: Jadidism in the Turkic World" was held in Tashkent, jointly organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent University of Economics and Pedagogy, Ege University of Türkiye, and the Azerbaijan Foundation in Izmir.
The event was attended by researchers from universities in Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, the Russian Federation, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and other countries, as well as scholars conducting research on "Jadidism," including a group of faculty members from the Department of Languages and Literatures at Khazar University.
At the plenary session of the symposium, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Director of the Department of Modern Turkish Languages and Literature at Ege University of Türkiye, Associate Professor Yılmaz Özkaya; Rector of Tashkent University of Economics and Pedagogy, Professor Shakerboy Janikulov; Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of Tashkent University of Economics and Pedagogy, Professor Marifjon Yuldashev; Editor-in-Chief of "Jadid" newspaper Iqbol Mirza; and professors and scholars from other institutions delivered speeches, emphasizing the purpose and significance of the symposium.
In the panel chaired by Director of the Department of Languages and Literatures at Khazar University, Associate Professor Dilber Zeynalova, Professor Badirkhan Ahmadov presented "The Factor of Religious Unity and National Solidarity in the Modernization of the Turkic World: Jamal al-Din Afghani"; Associate Professor Ziver Huseynli Baylan and Director of the Career and Alumni Center Zarifa Aliyeva presented "One of Azerbaijan's Modernist Figures: Seyid Azim Shirvani"; and Dr. Ilkiyya Hajiyeva presented "Women in Azerbaijani Drama: Disenfranchisement, Enlightenment and Resistance."
On the second day of the symposium, an event was held at the Palace of Spirituality located in Chirchik in connection with "October 1 - Teachers and Educators Day," followed by a city tour organized for participants.
On the final day of the symposium, participants visited Samarkand, one of Uzbekistan's historically and culturally rich cities, and toured the ancient city's historical sites, including the mausoleum of Amir Timur.
