Staff members of Khazar University's Life Sciences Department - Department Head Dr. Jamala Eldarova and Department Associate Professor Dr. Javid Ojaghi - have had their article titled "Allelic diversity of Azerbaijani bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) by SSR markers" published in the "Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry" (Volume 49 (2025), Issue 2). It should be noted that the "Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry" is indexed in the "Web of Science" and "Scopus" databases.
In the current research work, genetic diversity was investigated in 50 Azerbaijani wheat samples belonging to 6 different varieties using SSR (simple sequence repeat) markers. Based on the 7 SSR primers used, a total of 42 different alleles were detected, with an average of 6 alleles identified per locus. The polymorphism information content (PIC) ranged from 0.428 to 0.772, demonstrating the presence of rich genetic diversity in Azerbaijani wheat samples.
