The International Pharmaceutical Sciences Congress-2025 (IPSC 2025) was held on May 14, 2025, organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Eastern Mediterranean University located in Famagusta, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Scientists from more than 20 countries worldwide and specialists working in pharmaceutical and biomedical research fields participated in the congress.
Azerbaijan was represented at this prestigious international scientific congress by Dr. Jamala Eldarova, Director of the Department of Life Sciences at Khazar University, Dr. Javid Ojaghi, Assoc. Prof. of the department, and Dr. Farida Tatardar, Director of the Department of Physics and Electronics.
During the congress, Dr. Jamala Eldarova presented her research findings in a presentation titled "Exploring the genetic diversity and pharmacological properties of Azerbaijani tea accessions," sharing results of molecular and biochemical analyses regarding the genetic diversity of Azerbaijani tea samples and their pharmacological effects, as well as the high antioxidant potential of local tea samples. The presentation particularly highlighted the importance of tea plants in the preparation of natural origin pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Javid Ojaghi explained the genetic variation of bioactive compounds (β-glucan and resveratrol) in barley and grape varieties and their effects on human health in his presentation titled "Genetic variation and health benefits of β-glucan and resveratrol in barley and grape wine." His research carries great significance in terms of molecular-level study of barley and grape plants and their use in nutrition.
Dr. Farida Tatardar delivered a presentation titled "Electrospun nanofibers: Pharmaceutics and biomedical applications" at the congress. Electrospun nanofibers have generated significant interest in pharmaceutical and biomedical fields in recent years. These fibers are widely used in application areas such as drug delivery systems, wound dressings, and tissue engineering. Therefore, nanofibers may play an important role in the development of medical products in the future.
The scientific results presented by Azerbaijani researchers were received with interest and sparked discussions. Within the framework of the congress, preliminary agreements for scientific cooperation with several international academic institutions were reached.
At the conclusion of the congress, certificates were presented to participants.
