On May 15, 2025, the traditional "Spaghetti Bridge 2025" student creativity and technical competition was held at Khazar University. The main objective of the event was to reveal students' engineering knowledge, analytical thinking and creative capabilities, as well as to develop their teamwork skills.
Within the framework of the competition, participating teams prepared load-bearing bridge models using only spaghetti and adhesive materials, and these models were tested with special testing mechanisms.
SOCAR Downstream company employees participated in the event as guests and judges. At the same time, the 2024 winning team "Propaganda" (Elnur Ganiyev, Faride Gocayeva, Tariyel Alekberov) shared their previous experience with participants and provided useful advice to young engineers.
The jury panel - Elvin Aslanov (SOCAR Downstream Management Company specialist), Yusif Sadiqov (Khazar University School of Science and Engineering lecturer) and Vafa Aslanova (Khazar University School of Science and Engineering deputy dean) - used the maximum load the bridges could carry, structural stability, aesthetic appearance and presentation skills as evaluation criteria.
Based on the jury panel's decision, first place was awarded to "Fettuccine" (Amine Aliyeva, Sariya Ismayilova, Ayan Hasanzade, Leyla Yusifova), second place to "Civil Squad" (Jale Asgarova, Sariyya Abishova, Ilhame Salmanova, Firidun Pashali) and third place to "Bridghetti" (İlayda Murtazayeva, Nigar Kazimzade, Baba Aslanov, Binnat Binnatov, Elmir Nabiyev) teams.
The competition winners were presented with cash prizes, certificates and gifts from SOCAR Downstream Company, while other participants received certificates of appreciation.
At the end of the event, individuals who actively participated in organizing the competition - chief coordinator Elnur Ganiyev and coordinators Togrul Abdullazade, İlayda Murtazayeva and Elvin Jumayev - were awarded with certificates of appreciation.
