On May 19, 2025, a seminar on "The Role of Folklore in Human Psyche and Bibliotherapy" was conducted jointly organized by Khazar University's Psychology Department and Psychology Club, presented by Associate Professor Aynur Gazanfarqizi, coordinator of Khazar University's Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Folklore (ICAF), and Mirsadiq Mukhtarov, staff member of the Psychology Department and psychologist at Khazar Psychological Service Center.
In the first part of the seminar, Associate Professor Aynur Gazanfarqizi emphasized the psychological effects of folklore on human psyche. She drew attention to different approaches according to peoples and ethnic diversity, noting that folklore is important for human development.
In the second part of the seminar, Mirsadiq Mukhtarov provided detailed information about bibliotherapy. He spoke about the definition, history, objectives and benefits of bibliotherapy. At the same time, he explained how this therapy is used as a supportive method in practical fields and its usefulness. During the seminar, Mirsadiq Mukhtarov also informed the audience about bibliotherapy techniques, explaining the stages of therapy and the rules of application appropriate to age stages.
During the seminar, numerous questions from participants were answered by the instructors. The event not only deepened students' theoretical knowledge but also covered the initial application of bibliotherapy techniques. This seminar, which emphasized the impact of folklore on human psyche and the role of bibliotherapy in contemporary psychological practice, was memorable with the broad participation of students and faculty. It should be noted that the seminar also demonstrated to students the mutual unity of literature and psychology fields from an interdisciplinary perspective.
