On March 14, 2025, Khazar University had the honor of welcoming the former President of Latvia, Andris Bērziņš. He was accompanied by Edgars Skuja, Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan; Elmira Mirzayeva, Counselor for Culture, Education, and Economic Affairs at the Latvian Embassy; and Daina Bāre, the former president’s assistant.

From Khazar University, the meeting was attended by the university’s founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli; Acting Rector Prof. Mahammad Nuriyev; Dean of the School of Economics and Management Dr. Raziya Isayeva; Dean of the Graduate School of Economics and Business Prof. Inqilab Ahmadov; Dean of the School of Science and Engineering Dr. Fakhranda Afandiyeva; Dean of the Graduate School of Science, Art, and Technology Dr. Gunel Baheddinova; Acting Dean of the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences Aygun Verdiyeva; Director of the Quality Assurance Center Lyudmila Sotova; Head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy Dr. Orkhan Valiyev; and Head of the International Affairs Office Fatima Valiyeva.

The meeting featured fruitful discussions focused on establishing bilateral cooperation. It was emphasized that support would be provided in developing partnerships with leading Latvian universities.

A presentation about Khazar University was delivered, offering guests a comprehensive overview of the institution.

The visit concluded with a commemorative photo session and the exchange of gifts.
