Charshanba Traditions During Class Time

On March 11, 2025, Associate Professor Aynur Gazanfargizi, a lecturer at the Department of Languages and Literature at Khazar University, implemented Nowruz traditions during her class.

The professor first provided students with general information about the rich customs and traditions of Nowruz. She then introduced her students to the "Vasfi-hal" ceremony as a way to apply these traditions in a manner relevant to the lesson topic.

Vasfi-hal is one of the traditional customs of Nowruz. In this ceremony, each participant places a personal jewelry item in a bowl filled with water, and the bowl is covered with a tablecloth. Then, a bayati (traditional poem) is recited, and one jewelry item is selected from the bowl. The meaning of the poem is interpreted in relation to the owner of the selected item, providing a personalized interpretation.

Associate Professor Aynur Gazanfargizi's hands-on approach helped students better understand the significance of Nowruz while also increasing their interest in national culture.
