On February 26, 2025, a seminar titled "Neolithization of Anatolia" was held at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS (Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences), featuring Prof. Dr. Çiler Çilingiroğlu from the Department of Prehistory and Near Eastern Archaeology at the Faculty of Literature of Ege University, located in İzmir, Türkiye. The professor was invited by Khazar University.
The seminar was attended by the director of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, Assoc. Prof. Farhad Guliyev, along with institute staff, including Dr. Yagub Mammadov and Ulviyya Safarova from the History and Archaeology Department of Khazar University. Assoc. Prof. Farhad Guliyev noted that Prof. Dr. Çiler Çilingiroğlu was invited to Azerbaijan by Khazar University to share the latest research findings on neolithization in Anatolia.
In her lecture, Prof. Dr. Çiler Çilingiroğlu discussed the archaeological cultures of the Anatolian peninsula, focusing on their geographical location, landscape, ecological environment in ancient times, and chronological sequence. She presented the latest research results from the Göbeklitepe site, dating back to approximately the 9th millennium BCE, and the Çatalhöyük site from the second half of the 8th millennium BCE, which corresponds to the early ceramic Neolithic period.
The seminar continued in a discussion format with the institute's staff.
