On February 12, 2025, Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli, founder of Khazar University and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, and Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy, met with Prof. Birol Akgun, newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Azerbaijan. Dr. Cihangir Ishbilir, media advisor to the ambassador, also attended the meeting.

After congratulating the ambassador, Hamlet Isakhanli discussed existing collaborations and potential opportunities with Turkish universities.

During the meeting, Hamlet Isakhanli presented Ambassador Birol Akgun with several books he authored, including "In Search of Khazar" and "My Karabakh or the Karabakh Knot." He also invited the ambassador to the opening program of an academic seminar on "Geopolitics of Technology" to be held at the university on February 18-19, 2025.
