US Embassy Representatives Visit Khazar

On January 28, 2025, Khazar University hosted representatives from the US Embassy in Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by Regional English Language Officer (RELO) John Silver, English Language Program Coordinators Ayjan Yaman and Sabina Abdullayeva, and Cultural Affairs Specialist Randy Cole.

The guests were welcomed by Prof. Mohammed Nuriyev, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Aygun Verdiyeva, Acting Dean of the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, Dr. Milana Abbasova, Head of the English Language and Literature Department, Fatima Valiyeva, Head of International Affairs Office, and Jala Mammadova, coordinator.

During the meeting, discussions focused on activities implemented under the US State Department-funded "English Language Fellowship" program and future collaboration opportunities. The current status of the program, opportunities created for English language teachers and students, as well as projects planned for the next year were discussed. Embassy representatives attended a class taught by Michael Collins, the program's fellow at Khazar University for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of gifts and photographs.
