A commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the January 20 events was held at Khazar University on January 16, 2025, organized by the Department of History and Archaeology with the participation of faculty members and students. A video presentation about January 20 was shown at the event.

Associate Professor Telman Nusratoglu, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology, Dr. Sohrab Mustafayev, faculty member of the department, and Alovsat Amirbayli, Director of Public Relations and Media, delivered speeches at the ceremony. The speakers emphasized the unprecedented atrocities committed by the Soviet empire against Azerbaijan, the significance of the January 20 events, the spirit of national struggle for independence and territorial integrity, and how national unity and solidarity overcame Moscow's pressures and attempts to instill fear.
