On December 23, 2024, a panel discussion was held on the topic of “Climate Change and Changing Economic Policies: Problems and Prospects” organized by the Department of Economics and Management.
At the opening of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Dr. Razia Isaeva, presented a comprehensive overview of the impacts of climate change on the global economy and the measures taken in this direction.
Three main presentations were presented within the framework of the panel. First, Polad Orujov, a lecturer at the Department of Economics and Management, delivered a report on climate change and tourism policies. The report analyzed the impacts of climate change on the tourism sector in different countries and the main priorities within the framework of the tourism development strategy of Azerbaijan on a scientific basis.
The next presentation was delivered by Nuran Aliyeva, a student of the faculty. The speaker shared her research results on sustainable development and economic growth with the participants. Here, issues related to sustainable development problems, green economy in Azerbaijan, effective solutions to combat climate change, and advanced world experience in this direction were touched upon.
Finally, Hasan Rahimli, a lecturer of the department, gave a report on the topic “Climate change: reality or illusion?” During the speech, issues related to climate change forecasts, difficulties in financing climate change, the relationship between carbon emissions and per capita GDP, the necessity of economic contraction, and the results of empirical research in this direction were touched upon.
After the reports, all participants held extensive discussions, putting forward different approaches to the topic. The event was met with great interest and created an educational and constructive discussion platform on climate change.
