The First Baku Book Festival was held at the Baku Sports Palace from December 19-22, 2024, organized by the "Azerbaijan Publishers Association" Public Union (APAPU) and the Ministry of Culture. On December 20, Khazar University staff and students visited the festival.
The festival was held under the slogan "New Year with New Books!" More than 30 publishing houses, including APAPU members, were represented at the event.
At the festival's opening ceremony, APAPU chairman Shamil Sadiq spoke in detail about the preparation process. People's Poet Sabir Rustamkhanli, Üsküdar University (Türkiye) Rector Nazife Güngör, Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Culture and Director of Azerbaijan Ataturk Center Academician Nizami Jafarov, Member of Parliament Fazil Mustafa, Press Council Chairman Rashad Majid, and Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Rafig Hashimov emphasized in their speeches the importance of books and reading and their role in society's development.
The festival featured presentations and autograph sessions by well-known writers and poets, meetings with famous personalities, poetry hours, as well as storytelling sessions for children.
