On December 10, Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy, attended the ınternational conference titled "The Main Obstacle to the Peace Agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia”.
Addressing the event, Farid Shafiyev, AIR Center Chairman, highlighted Azerbaijan’s reconciliation efforts with Armenia. He stressed that, however, Armenia’s ongoing territorial claims hinder the peace process.
Elnur Mammadov, Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister, emphasized the country`s proposal for a peace treaty with Armenia, describing the territorial claims against Azerbaijan outlined in the Armenian Constitution as the primary obstacle for building peace. The other problem, according to him, is the stance of the opposition.
The conference then featured the panel discussions on "Obstacles to the Peace Treaty in the Constitution and Laws of Armenia" and "Changing Constitutions for Peace - International Experiences".
