On November 26-27, 2024, a seminar was held at Khazar University with the participation of scientists from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) located in the city of Dubna, Russia. The seminar was attended by professors and faculty members of Khazar University, young researchers, as well as leaders from various universities and research institutes.
Before the seminar, a protocol meeting was organized between Khazar University and JINR, and collaboration perspectives were discussed.
The seminar began with a concert program by the Khazar University Chamber Orchestra.
In his opening speech, Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, spoke extensively about the university's history, achievements, and international cooperation opportunities. Subsequently, JINR Director, Academician Grigory Trubnikov, provided detailed information about the institute's activities and large-scale scientific research being conducted. Professor Soodabeh Davaran, Director of the Khazar University Engineered Biomaterials Research Center, emphasized the great importance of such scientific events in her remarks.
During the seminar, a significant cooperation agreement was signed between Khazar University and JINR, aimed at strengthening scientific collaboration. This agreement will cover joint scientific research projects and promote mutual experience exchange between universities and institutes, opening up new opportunities for collaborative research at local and global levels.
On the first day of the seminar, Dr. Aleksandr Bugay and Dr. Norbert Kucerka provided comprehensive information to participants about radiobiology and radiation applications in medicine. On the second day, Dr. Yuriy Severyukhin and Mikhail Zarubin presented on molecular mechanisms of tolerance to physiochemical stresses and radioresistance.
At the end of the event, certificates were presented to the participating scientists by Khazar University Rector Dr. Irada Khalilova.
