Fulbright Scholar's Seminar within the Framework of COP29

On October 2, 2024, a seminar on climate change and sustainability was conducted by Fulbright scholar Dr. Julie Shortridge, Associate Professor at Virginia Tech University, jointly organized by Khazar University and the US Embassy in Azerbaijan. The seminar took place within the framework of COP29 events and was welcomed with great interest by students.

In her presentation, Dr. Julie Shortridge discussed the importance of transformative adaptation, the necessity of developing new technologies and long-term solutions to address the problems caused by climate change. She also emphasized the importance of enhancing public awareness and education on climate change adaptation. The speaker also noted that increasing diversity in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields is crucial, especially in solving complex problems like climate change. By bringing together different experiences and ideas, more innovative and effective solutions can be developed.

At the end of the seminar, Dr. Shortridge answered various questions from faculty and students. Afterwards, the leadership of Khazar University thanked the US Embassy and Dr. Julie Shortridge for the significant scientific discussions.
