On September 25, 2024, Fulbright researcher Dr. Natalia Rekhter and English Language Fellow program scholar Michael were introduced to the university staff at the Nailakhanim Culture Center in Khazar University's "Neftchilar" campus.
As part of the program, Dr. Natalia Rekhter is expected to lecture on Health Economics and Health Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business Higher Education, while Michael Collins will observe English language teachers' classes and conduct trainings to develop students' language learning skills.
Khazar University Rector Assoc. Prof. Irada Khalilova and Bill Murad, Head of the Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan, gave brief speeches. Then, the guest researchers shared their impressions.
The meeting was also attended by Khazar University's faculty deans, department heads, and staff, as well as U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan staff - Sabina Abdullayeva, English Language Program Coordinator, and Khanim Teilova, Education Specialist.
The event featured a concert by the Khazar University Chamber Orchestra (artistic director Zulfiyya Sadigova, honored teacher, pianist, head of the university's Music and Art Department, and orchestra conductor Meri Cheminava). A tea table was set for the guests. At the end of the event, Rector Irada Khalilova presented gifts to the guest researchers.
It should be noted that both programs are funded by the U.S. Department of State. It's also worth mentioning that the "English Language Fellow" scholarship program is designed for highly specialized U.S. instructors in the fields of teaching English to speakers of other languages or teaching English as a foreign language, for a 10-month period at educational institutions in various parts of the world.
