On September 20, 2024, within the framework of the traditional “Uzeyir Hajibeyli XVI International Music Festival” organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, Khazar University Chamber Orchestra held a concert titled “The Sounds of Youth in Uzeyir’s Art” at the Fikrat Amirov Conference-Concert Center. Students from the Bulbul Vocal School (BVS) also took part in the event. The concert’s artistic director was Zulfiya Sadygova, an honored teacher, pianist, and head of Khazar University’s Music and Fine Arts Department. Meri Cheminava served as the conductor.
The concert opened with the Chamber Orchestra’s rendition of Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s “Arazbari,” followed by Gulchohra’s aria and Asya’s couplets from the operetta “The Cloth Peddler” performed by BVS students Lala Namazova and Fidan Sultanova. Other pieces included the romances “The Dearest Beloved” and “Without you,” along with the song “Black eyes,” performed by BVS students Ibrahim Guliyev, Amil Nuri, and Heydar Khalafayev. Aytak Nasibova performed Asaf Zeynalli’s romance “Question,” while Nazrin Mansirli delivered Nargiz’s song from Muslim Magomayev’s opera “Nargiz”. The program also featured “Shahrizad’s Celebration” from Fikrat Amirov’s ballet “One Thousand and One Nights, Dilbar’s aria from “Sevil”, and the romance “Ulduz,” performed by honored artist Inara Babayeva. Additional performances included E. D. Curtis’s romance “Return to Sorrento” (“Torna a Surriento”) performed by BVS student Mehdi Niftaliyev, Tofig Guliyev’s romance “I Became Happy,” sung by BVS student Altun Suleymanov, and a waltz for chamber orchestra by People’s Artist Sardar Farajov.
The audience warmly applauded the concert.
