On July 30, 2024, AZERTAC State Information Agency published a comprehensive interview titled “Although We Haven’t Fully Integrated into Global Science, We Have Achieved Many Milestones in This Field” with Academician Vagif Farzaliyev, Director of the Institute of Chemical Reagents, who, along with the institute’s professors Həqiqət Cavadova and Əfsun Sucayev, was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the 2024 complex scientific and technical work on the “Creation and Production Organization of Specialty Lubricants.” The interview was conducted by Sevda Jafarova.
In the interview, the academician eloborates on detail the recent activities of the institute he leads and concludes that, in terms of scientific indicators, Azerbaijan is the leader in the South Caucasus. He also emphasizes the purposeful measures taken to engage talented students in science. As an example, he notes that Khazar University’s ‘Dunya’ School students, Said Aslanov and Ibrahim Allahverdiyev, were awarded a bronze medal in the ‘Biomedical and Health Sciences’ category at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in California this May. Their research on ‘The Creation of New-Generation Enzyme-Isoenzyme Inhibitors for Alzheimer’s Disease,’ conducted under the scientific supervision of Professor Əfsun Sujayev at the institute’s Physiologically Active Organic Compounds Laboratory, was recognized for its excellence.
