From May 12-17, 2024, Shahin Aliyev, a student of Khazar University and chairman of the " Eternal Unity " Youth Public Union, visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as a special guest of the Chairman of the TRNC Assembly, Zorlu Tore. During his visit, he attended meetings and events involving working group delegations on inter-parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan-TRNC and Türkiye-TRNC, based on an official invitation.
Shahin Aliyev, along with Serdar Shengul, the head of the North Cyprus representative office of the " Eternal Unity" Youth Public Union, first met with the Chairman of the Republic Assembly, Zorlu Tore, and presented him with the "Honorable Service" Award from the public union he leads. He also awarded the "Service" award to personal secretary Irem Uygun and presented the books "Victory with Ilham Aliyev-20" and "Cyprus - the Eternal Fortress of the Turks in the Eastern Mediterranean," which he authored. In return, Chairman of the Republic Assembly Zorlu Tore gave gifts from the Republic Assembly to Shahin Aliyev.
Another meeting was held with Mithat Tekcam, Youth and Sports Coordinator of the Republic of Türkiye, and Metin Yılgın, Deputy Chairman of the AK Party Representation of Northern Cyprus. During the meeting, opinions were exchanged regarding the implementation of the exchange programs and joint projects of young people of Azerbaijan- Türkiye -Northern Cyprus.
On May 13, the Azerbaijani delegation attended the opening of a monument in Iskele dedicated to the 12 Turkish martyrs killed by the Greek EOKA in December 1964. In his speech, Zorlu Tore expressed his confidence that the heroes who gave their lives to make these lands their homeland would never be forgotten. During this event, Shahin Aliyev met with the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar.
Chairman of the Republic Assembly, Zorlu Tore, toured the city of Marash with the Türkiye-Azerbaijan, Türkiye -TRNC, and Azerbaijan- TRNC inter-parliamentary friendship groups and their accompanying delegations. Shahin Aliyev and Serdar Shengul were also invited on this city tour. Javanshir Feyziyev, Chairman of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis, and Orhan Erdem, Chairman of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group of Türkiye -TRNC, spoke at the ceremony. During the city tour, Shahin Aliyev met with Fahri Yonluer, a representative of the AK Party, and they exchanged views on priority areas for youth development.
Shahin Aliyev and Serdar Shengul also met with Mine Emiroglu, the head of the Promotion and Marketing Department of the Ministry of Tourism and Ecology of the TRNC. During the meeting, they talked about tourism relations and joint projects. Shahin Aliyev and Serdar Shengul presented "Service Award" to Mine Emiroglu for her work in the development of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus. Mine Emiroglu also gave Shahin Aliyev a gift of handicrafts reflecting the culture of Northern Cyprus.
Then Shahin Aliyev and Serdar Shengul met with Tuygun Tore, head of Torex Trading.
Torex Trading is an TRNC organization that manufactures recycled waste bags and sells cleaning and hygiene products. In this regard, Shahin Aliyev and Tuygun Tore exchanged views on the declaration of 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in Azerbaijan and the COP29 to be held in Baku. Shahin Aliyev met with Fatih Arıcı, the head of TRNC Idealist Hearths. During the meeting, both sides discussed their respective activities and potential collaborative projects.
On May 16, Chairman of the Republic Assembly Zorlu Tore bid farewell to Javanshir Feyziyev, head of the Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Working Group on Azerbaijan-TRNC inter-parliamentary relations, and his accompanying delegation at Ercan airport. Shahin Aliyev and Serdar Shengul were also in attendance.
On May 16, Zorlu Tore met once more with Shahin Aliyev Serdar Shengul, and the Turkish delegation, extending his best wishes for their success and calling for unity among the youth of the Turkic world.
The visit of the " Eternal Unity" Youth Public Union concluded on May 17.
