At the initiative of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization (NAMYO), a cultural exchange event celebrating Africa Day was held on May 24, 2024, at the organization's headquarters. Young people from NAM member states and local youth from Azerbaijan took part in the event, which aimed to promote cultural solidarity and diversity among the youth of NAM member states. The event commenced with a speech by Nigar Bagırli, the general secretary of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization. She emphasized that the primary goal was to acquaint young people with Africa's vibrant and ancient culture and to encourage cultural solidarity and diversity.
African youths residing in Azerbaijan gave various presentations, performed songs and dances highlighting the significance of Africa Day and the rich cultural heritage of the African continent, and introduced participants to samples of traditional cuisine. Additionally, a question-and-answer game was organized, with prizes awarded to the winning participants by NAMYO.
The involvement of foreign youth from various African countries was crucial in fostering a more inclusive and culturally diverse union. Abebe Gule Girma, Fatima Schroeder, Emmanuella Ofori, and Fudia Turay from Khazar University also contributed to the event.
