On May 21, 2024, Khazar University’s International Relations Department organized a celebration for the International Day of Culture with the participation of international students. Every year on May 21, UNESCO observes the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.
Rector of Khazar University Assoc. Prof. Irada Khalilova opened the event, greeted the participants and wished them success.
The event started with anthems of different countries and continued with a fashion show. Later, interesting music and dance performances were presented by our students representing five different countries.
Khazar University hosted international students from over 60 countries. On this day, foreign students showcased their cultures, arts, cuisines, and traditions through traditional music, dance performances, cultural presentations, exhibitions, and food displays. Participating countries included Afghanistan, China, Comoros Islands, Ghana, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, and Morocco.
The event was also attended by Wanda Widya, the third secretary of the Indonesian Embassy in Azerbaijan; Sona Hajiyeva, a specialist in immigrant education at the International Committee of the Red Cross; and Nigar Aghayeva and Ayan Mukhtarli from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees delegation in Azerbaijan.
Rector of Kahramanmarash Sutchu Imam University Prof. Dr. Alptekin Yasım, Rector's assistants Prof. Dr. Nuri Kahveci and Prof. Dr. Orhan Dogan, and Secretary General Ali Riza Bekler also attended the event. Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanlı and Alptekin Yasım highlighted the significance of such cultural exchange events. The event concluded with the presentation of cuisines from various countries.
