On May 21, 2024, the "Chinese Language Bridge" competition took place as part of the XXIII "Chinese Language Bridge" international competition, co-organized by the Confucius Center at Baku State University and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Azerbaijan. Students studying Chinese from various higher education institutions across the country attended the competition. Besides demonstrating their language skills, participants showcased talents such as dancing, drawing, singing, and acting.
Ding Tao, charge d'affaires of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Azerbaijan, Sahin Panahov, vice-rector for International Relations at BSU, Aydan Khandan, dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Rauf Hasanov, head of the International Relations Department, and Wang Haoqiang, director of the Confucius Center at BSU, attended the competition.
Khayala Mammadova, a fourth-year student majoring in Translation( English) at Khazar University's School of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences and a participant at the university's Confucius Center, secured first place. Sevda Majidli, a student from BSU's Faculty of Oriental Studies, took second place. Ayla Ismailova, another student from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Farida Suleymanova from BSU's Confucius Center, and Fatima Aliyeva from the Azerbaijan University of Languages all tied for third place.
Khayala Mammadova, the first-place winner, will represent Azerbaijan in the final stage to be held in China.
