On January 30, 2024, a gathering took place between representatives from SOCAR and Khazar University. Present at the meeting were SOCAR Vice-President Dr. Arzu Javadova, Dr.Elvin Ahmadov, Deputy Head of the Deposit Evaluation and Resource Management Department, Dr. Samira Nazarova, a geologist from the same department, Dr. Fakhranda Efendiyeva, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, Dr. Elshan Abdullayev, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, along with the department’s lecturer Dr. Grigorii Penkov, assistant and academic adviser Gunay Muradova.

During the meeting, Dr.Grigorii Penkov outlined the strategy for scientific collaboration and introduced the draft for future research endeavors. Additionally, a forthcoming research initiative concerning the advancement of the geomechanical model was approved as a pilot project. The participants also deliberated on joint workshops, seminars, and conferences to be organized collaboratively between Khazar University and SOCAR, along with plans to facilitate students' engagement in international conferences.
