On October 25, 2023, an international conference on “Uzun Hasan Aqqoyunlu and his period: the political, socio-economic and cultural problems” was held in the Marble Hall of Khazar University, organized by the International Turkish Academy (Kazakhstan) and Khazar University. The conference was attended by the administration of Khazar University, deans of faculties, heads of departments, employees and students, the administration of the International Turkish Academy, scientists and specialists from Türkiye, Kazakhstan and Mongolia, Institutes of ANAS and universities of the country.
The conference started with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Khazar University Chamber Orchestra (artistic director - head of the University's Department of Music and Arts, honored teacher, pianist Zulfiyya Sadigova) welcomed the participants with a small concert program.
Then there was the opening ceremony of the conference. Prof. Acad.Hamlet Isakhanli, founder of Khazar University and chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees and Acad. Shahin Mustafayev, president of the International Turkish Academy gave an opening speech.
Then the plenary session of the conference started its work. Then, reports were made on the following topics: "The crowded parade of the Aqqoyunlu army, organised by Uzun Hasan, in the writings of the philosopher-scholar Jalaluddin Muhammad Davani (1476)" by Prof. Şahin Fazil (Institute of History of ANAS); "Some reflections on Karakoyunlu from the Ilkhanid state tradition: examples from Mongolian historiography” by Prof. Dr. Danuugiin Ankhbayar (Turkology Department, Mongolian State University and Katib Chelebi University,Mongolia); “ Climate , Disease, and Upheaval in the Turkic World in the 14th-15th Centuries” by Prof. Dr. Uli Schamiloglu (Department of Kazakh Language and Turkish Studies. Nazarbayev University, Kazakhistan); “Emulating Emir Timur: Impressions of Uzun Hasan from Ottoman Sources” by Prof. Dr. Feridun Mustafa Emecen (Faculty of Literature of Istanbul 29 Mayıs University, Türkiye); “A general overview of some issues of the Akkoyunlu-Safavid common statehood tradition" by Prof. Dr. Zabil Bayramli (History Faculty, Baku State University, Azerbaijan).
On the first day, the conference continued its work in four sections, more than twenty reports of scientists and specialists were heard.
The conference was moderated by Nurlan Nasirov, a lecturer of the Department of History and Archeology of Khazar University.
On October 26, the conference participants visited Alley of Martyrs, Heydar Aliyev Center and Icherisheher.
