Article by Folklore Researcher Published

Article by Elsa Ismayilova, Khazar University teacher, entitled “Sword Motive in the “Koroglu” Saga” was published in the “Dede Gorgud” Scientific and Literary Journal of the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (2019, I (64) p. 91). The article examines the underlying concept of the sword in the Azerbaijani and Turkish versions of the “Koroglu” epic, especially the etymology of the “Misri” sword. The Azerbaijani and Turkish texts of the epic used the same weapons and the same armament, and both texts are similar in the motives of the weapons. The author thus proves that the Turkic and Azerbaijani peoples are the bearers of the same culture and ethnic identity.
