Literary-musical commemoration entitled “Knowledge Ceremony of Turkish World”, organized by the instructors and students of disciplines of Introduction to Turkish Studies and Comparative grammar of Turkish dialects, the Department of the Azerbaijan language and Literature, was held on December 21, in Marble Hall of Khazar University, which was dedicated to Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli’s birthday, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees.
Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, the administration staff and students as well as Adem Kelesh, advisor for Culture and Tourism of Turkish Embassy to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prof. Ali Shamil, chief of international relations of Institute of Folklore, Prof. Badirkhan Ahmadli, chief of department of Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, Gatiba Guliyeva, chief of Education department of Institute of Linguistics, Anar Asadov, founder of xeber365.com and media representatives participated in the ceremony.
The objective of the ceremony was to draw attention to Turan family, which involved more than 200 million people, and introduce language legacy and folklore artifact to the participants.
The ceremony started with the performance of “Turan march”, glorifying unity of Turkish peoples, which was sung by a student choir.
Dr. Ilaha Gurbanli, a lecturer of department of the Azerbaijan language and literature, and Dr. Elza Samadli, dean of School of Education, delivered speeches clarifying the idea and importance of the ceremony.
In the event, the students read, in various dialects, written texts dating back to BC, performed folklore artifacts, demonstrated fragments of documentaries, and presented traditions, garments and food of Turkish people.
The letter, which was sent to Chinese emperor in 176 BC by Mete, Hun emperor, as well as other historical texts, was read in their original dialects by the students. Moreover, the students performed sketches demonstrating traditions of Turkish peoples, and sang songs.
Professor Ali Shamil, chief of international relations of Institute of Folklore, and Gatiba Guliyeva, chief of Education department of Institute of Linguistics, talked about various aspects of History and Culture of Turkish people, and also appreciated students’ performance.
Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, delivered a long speech on historical development, folklore and languages of Turkish people and expressed his gratitude for organization of the event.
The ceremony ended with the performance of a student choir and dance ensemble.
