On November 30, 2017, an event dedicated to December 3 – International Day of Persons with Disabilities was held at Khazar University, jointly organized by Khazar Psychological Service Centre, Centre for the Students with Disabilities and "International Agency for Disabled People" Public Union.
The event was attended by state organizations, representatives of foreign embassies, non-governmental organizations and community representatives. In the artistic part of the event, a pantomime scene was performed by the patients of the Psychiatric Hospital #1. Small dancers of the Department of Cultural Relations of the Agency for Disabled People, also took part in the event with great enthusiasm. Ramiz Guliyev, an outstanding tar player of Azerbaijan, thanked the organizers of the event and spoke about the significance of awareness-raising events related to disability in Azerbaijan. Various musical numbers were welcomed by the participants. The great interest of the participants was also raised by the exhibition sales of handicrafts of talented people with disabilities. Melek Kerimova, Head of Khazar Psychological Service Center, spoke about the Khazar University project "The Establishment of Foundation for the Integration of Disabled People into Higher Educational Institutions of Azerbaijan" and highlighted the importance of the Center for the Students with Disabilities, established at the university. The event ended with ‘Karabakh Shikastasi’ which was met with great enthusiasm.
