On September 28, 2017, the first meeting of the University Academic Council in the new academic year, was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Hassan Niknafs, the rector of Khazar University. Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of the university, chairman of its Boards of Directors and Trustees, congratulated the employees on the occasion of the beginning of the new academic year and gave his recommendations. Subsequently, he emphasized the necessity of strengthening scientific work at the university and noted that organizational measures have been taken for this purpose – the position of vice-rector for scientific research in the university was established and Dr. Irada Khalilova, the Head of the Biology Department, was appointed to this position.

In the accordance with the agenda of the meeting, the rector and the deans presented the newly appointed employees to the members of the Academic Council. Professor Mahammad Nuriyev, Vice rector for Academic Affairs gave information about the new staff of Academic Council of Khazar University. Dr. Jabir Khalilov, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Elza Samadova, Dean of the School of Education, Dr. Jeyhun Mammadov, Dean of the School of Economics and Management and Vafa Aslanova, Dean’s assistant of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences informed Dr. Eldar Shahgaldiyev, the Head of the Division for Graduate Students and Research and Dr. Irada Khalilova, the Vice-rector for scientific research about the thesis topics of the current PhD students, approval of supervisors and changing of some PhD students’ qualifications.

The current issues were also discussed at the meeting.
