Khazar University has been actively participating at the International Music Festival devoted to Uzeyir Hajibeyli, which was organized conjointly with Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. On September 20, 2017 within the framework of IX Uzeyir Hacibeyli International Music Festival (18-26 september) Concert-Conference was held at the University’s Marble Hall dedicated to “Uzeyir Hajibeyli, scholar, musician and public figure”. The event commenced with the performance of the Azerbaijan State Anthem. Slideshows and documentary film about the life and creativity of the great composer were demonstrated. Concert-Conference was opened by welcome speech of the Associate Professor Zulfiyya Sadigova, pianist and Head of the Department of Music and Fine Arts.
Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, Ramiz Quliyev, People’s Artist and tar player, Zemfira Gafarova, Secretary of the Azerbaijan Composers’ Union and honored artistic figure and professor of Baku Music Academy, Professor Sardar Farajov, Director of the Uzeyir Hajibeyli House Museum, honored artistic figure and Secretary of the Azerbaijan Composers’ Union, honored artistic figure and professor of Baku Music Academy, Zumrud Dadashzade and Master students of the Baku Music Academy Aysel Mirzasoy, Mekke Rasulzade and Feriqe Mammadzade delivered speech at the event.
During the speeches various aspects of Uzeyir Hajibeyli's multifaceted creative work were discussed. At the Concert-Conference, under the artistic direction of Zulfiya Sademova, accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of Khazar University, outstanding works of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Muslim Magomayev and Agshin Alizadeh were performed. The conductor of the orchestra for this concert was the laureate of the international competitions and teacher of Baku Music Academy, Javad Taghizadeh, andsoloists were – soloist of Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonia named after Muslim Magomayev, and teacher at Khazar University, Mahsati Jabbarli, as well as soloist of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after M.F Akhundov, Taleh Yahyayev.
Representatives of the music community of the country, staff and students of Khazar University attended the concert.
