On 22nd June, 2016, the grant project of the “EILINK” Scientific Research and Development Center in Petroleum Engineering Department at Khazar University, on the basis of BP Caspian company order, on the topic “Evaluation of the rock properties and productivity of the structurally deformed areas based on outcrop and field analogues in Azerbaijan” was officially approved by BP Azerbaijan, Georgia and the regional company of Turkey. The total duration of the project is considered to be nine months. The project is dedicated to field studies of geological survey of the outcrops of the Productive Series and evaluation of their depositional environments, bedding forms, measurements of porosity and permeability for studying their reservoir properties in structurally deformed rocks in steeply dipping limb areas in analogue fields of Azeri-Gunship-Chirag fields such as the Yasamal Valley (Shubany, Ateshgah, Shabandag), Lokbatan, Puta-Kushkhana, Korgez-Kiziltepe and Shongar fields outcrops. The gained findings will be applied to the well logs and cores, seismic exploration, well testing and production data will be used for evaluation productivity of the Deep Water Guneshli field. The project will be carried out by supervising and execution of Associate Professor Gasham Zeynalov, head of Petroleum Engineering department and by execution of Shahriyar Alkhasli, a PhD student at Khazar University.
The project is intended to be carried out by the collaboration of Khazar University and Society of petroleum Engineers of Azerbaijan.
