On November 4, 2026, the opening ceremony of the Petroleum Engineering Laboratory, established under the Petroleum Engineering Department of the University, was held.
The event, hosted in Room 115O at the University's Neftchilar campus, was attended by the Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Academician Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli; Rector Dr. Razia Isaeva; Dean of the School of Science and Engineering Dr. Fakhranda Afandiyeva; Dean of the Graduate School of Science, Arts and Technology Dr. Gunel Bahaddinova; faculty members; as well as a delegation of executives from SOCAR Head Office, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), and "Bibiheybatneft" OGPD.
Dr. Elvin Ahmadov, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, first familiarized the attendees with the equipment installed in the laboratory and the ongoing processes. He also presented the rock and mineral specimens collected in the newly established Geology Museum within the laboratory, drilling, maintenance, and production equipment, as well as the working principles of reservoir engineering simulation and modeling.
In the following session, a presentation on the future operations of the laboratory was delivered to the guests. Dr. Elvin Ahmadov stated that the laboratory has been rendered fully operational for the educational process. The facility is fully equipped with advanced instrumentation enabling thermobaric research, PVT and reservoir modeling, and core displacement testing, alongside drilling, maintenance, and production equipment, as well as ventilation and safety systems. He also provided detailed insights into the upcoming development phases of the laboratory.
During the exchange of views following the presentations, the work accomplished was highly commended by the University leadership and visiting guests, and the strategic direction to evolve the laboratory into an analytical-scientific research and business-oriented research hub in the future was deemed appropriate.
Khazar University expresses its sincere gratitude to all partner organizations and staff members who supported the implementation of this project.
