A training session dedicated to the development of research activity, the effective use of international scientific information resources, and the capabilities of modern digital research tools was organized at Khazar University on October 8, 2026.
The event was held within the framework of the "Clarivate Days" program, a joint initiative of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Clarivate company.
The event was opened with introductory remarks by Aytaj Misgarli, Director of Khazar University's Library and Information Center, who emphasized the importance of such trainings for the development of the university's research environment. She noted that the correct and effective use of modern scientific information resources plays an important role in researchers' work. She said that making use of the capabilities of international scientific databases enables more comprehensive study of scientific literature, identification of current research directions, analysis of scientific results, and improvement of research quality.
Aytaj Misgarli also drew attention to the fact that, in the modern era, university libraries are not only structures providing access to information sources, but also important centers that support scientific activity and contribute to raising researchers' information literacy and developing scientific communication. In this regard, she emphasized that the training held within "Clarivate Days" is significant for faculty and researchers in terms of useful exchange of experience and acquisition of new knowledge.
During the training, Khayala Hajiyeva, Clarivate's official representative for Azerbaijan, and Handan Ilic, Customer Success Manager, gave presentations providing detailed information on the functional capabilities of the Web of Science, ProQuest Central, and Web of Science Research Intelligence platforms. The presentations explained the role of these platforms in searching for scientific sources, analyzing research data, evaluating scientific activity, and planning the research process. The application of AI-based solutions in scientific research and increasing the efficiency of researchers' work were also addressed.
The main purpose of the training was to develop the skills of Khazar University's academic staff and researchers in using international scientific information databases and modern research tools, to support increasing the international visibility of scientific results, and to contribute to strengthening the university's research potential.
In the event, which continued with interactive discussions, participants' questions were answered, and views were exchanged on the practical application of the presented platforms and their use in research activity. The training gave participants the opportunity to become more closely familiar with the capabilities of international scientific information resources, gain new knowledge on applying these tools in the research process, and broaden their experience in increasing the efficiency of scientific activity.
