Khazar University and Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies laid a solid foundation for future collaboration

On November 15, 2024, Khazar University hosted a distinguished delegation from the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS) to explore potential partnerships and collaborative initiatives. This landmark meeting marked a significant step toward fostering academic and cultural exchange between Azerbaijan and China.

The meeting commenced with warm greetings from Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli, the Founder of Khazar University, who expressed his appreciation for the delegation's visit. Reflecting on his own positive experiences in China during his previous visit, Prof. Akad. Isakhanli shared his enthusiasm for the potential of a fruitful partnership.

Following the introductions from both sides, Khazar University staff, led by Assist. Prof. Irada Khalilova, outlined the day's agenda. Prof. Khalilova presented an overview of Khazar University's history, academic strengths, modern facilities, and international achievements. Highlighting partnerships with Chinese institutions and the activities of the University's China Studies Centre, she emphasized the shared opportunities for collaboration. She also touched on Khazar’s initiatives, including Dunya School and the Nailekhanim Foundation.

The ACCWS delegation, represented by Vice President Mr. Fan Daqi, Associate Research Fellow Ms. Zhao Lisha, and Research Assistant Mr. Zhang Yuanxiong, reciprocated with insights into their first impressions of Baku and the Academy's research focus. They proposed areas of potential cooperation, including artificial intelligence, civil engineering, climate change, cultural studies, and joint research projects in Baku and Beijing. They also suggested the creation of a joint research center and exchange programs between the two institutions.

During the discussions, Assist.Prof. Khalilova proposed hosting a collaborative conference, which was warmly received by the ACCWS delegation. Further suggestions included fellowship programs, presented by Turana Alieva, Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Founder of Khazar University. The meeting concluded with an exchange of presents.

This meeting has laid a solid foundation for future collaborations, underlining Khazar University's commitment to expanding international partnerships and fostering intercultural dialogue.
