On November 11, 2024, a forum on "Strategic Communication in Global Climate Crisis" was organized at the "Absheron" hotel in Baku within the framework of COP29 by the Communications Directorate of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.
The forum was attended by Çağatay Özdemir, Deputy Chairman of the Communications Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Türkiye, Dr. Cihangir İşbilir, Media Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijani and foreign experts.
Following the opening speeches, Associate Professor Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Political Science and Philosophy Department at Khazar University, along with other experts, shared his views on the subject at the forum moderated by Kılıç Buğra Kanat, Director of the Washington office of the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (PESR).
In his speech, Associate Professor Valiyev discussed how the first and second industrial revolutions led to humanity's sharp intervention in nature, and how scientists tried to draw politicians' attention to the climate crisis when the initial consequences of environmental intervention began to emerge in the second half of the twentieth century. He noted that with the third industrial revolution, climate change emerged as a global issue and began to influence systems used in politics and economics. He emphasized that the modern fourth industrial revolution, which brings the physical, biological, and electronic worlds closer together, has made regional and global cooperation in the field of climate change a necessity for states. The speaker concluded by stating, "COP29, hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan, will open new opportunities for the world facing climate crises."
