On October 22, 2024, the Department of Life Sciences organized a field trip to the "Citrus Valley" farm to study biodiversity. The excursion was dedicated to World Unified Health Day.
The students were provided information on the importance of biodiversity, plant adaptation to various environmental factors, different citrus plants and their varieties, fruits, as well as the impact of climate change and anthropogenic factors on such ecosystems. Additionally, Javid Ocaghi, an associate professor in the department, gave a hands-on demonstration on how to determine the number of trees per hectare and productivity.
Finally, the students, who were invited to a tea, listened to the owner of the garden, Raftar Shukurova, talk about the creation of the "Citrus Valley" farm, which covers an area of 15 hectares.
