On November 25, 2021, Khazar University and the United Nations Office in Azerbaijan organized a training for students on climate change. The training provided information on the National Adaptation Program launched in Azerbaijan.
At the event, UN experts, representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and teachers from Khazar University's Department of Geography and Environment reported on climate change.
The meeting was opened by the UN Coordinator for National Adaptation Program Zaur Aliyev. Then Dr. Rovshan Abbasov, Head of the Department of Geography and Environment at Khazar University, the lecturer of the department Rovshan Karimov, employees of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Hasanov, Akbar Asgarov, as well as UN expert Elchin Mammadov delivered lectures on the threats of climate change and ways to mitigate these threats. Afterwards, there were live discussions between students and experts, and students' questions were answered.
Concluding the training, Zaur Aliyev said that such trainings will be held regularly at Khazar University and other universities.
The meeting was attended not only by students of the Khazar University, but also students from other universities.
